Sept. 30^th

The long weekend of Flickers boys begins on Friday, when British patrol (Adrian, Colin and Giulio) travel across Wales and South of England through the tunnel to France, then arriving to Templeuve in Belgium around 8 pm. catching up with teammates from the continent (Geoffrey and Vittorio).

The friend Vincent Coppenolle has organized a Waspa Tournament on four rounds Swiss system for eleven players.  We will miss the first, but at the end of the day, the result will see again Geoffrey leading and Vittorio, Giulio and Colin runners up.  Friendly atmosphere, chocolate for the winners and excellent Belgian chips and beer after words at local pub. 

Oct. 1^st

Eugies International Open Individual tournament is held in Frameries Belgium and hosted by Eugies Lions.

It is the home of the old Geoffrey’s teammates.   Open 15 groups of four players.  Veteran four groups of four players.  U19 category as well.

First time for Adrian with Flickers Milan colours and he did well. Only Geoffrey and Adrian went through, while the Veteran Colin, Giulio and Vittorio did not pass the group.

Last 16. Incredible Geoffrey playing against the young champion Florian Giaux.  First half 0-3. In five minutes of the second half Geoffrey brought the match to daw 3-3. Pity because he missed to sleep the game and let the opponent to play his game. Anyway well done!

We turn over a new leaf and think of team competition, which will take place the day after. 

October 2^nd

This is the day. We all appointed Geoffrey as captain to lead the team today. Having three foreigners, we can only deploy four player over six.  The draw is not the best. Beside the strong team of Charleroi there is Eugies who bear a grudge against Flickers Milano. Their “A” team is not bad, we want to win by fair means or foul, and sometimes the atmosphere is like a rag to a bull.

Round two

Sharp match against Eugies. Bad luck for Colin and Vittorio, both of them close to a draw. While Giulio did great match. Unfortunately, another useless victory for Geoffrey, who was personally very disappointed having lost against his old teammates.  At that point, the only chance to pass the group was to win three matches out of four against Serring and expect Charleroi beating Eugies.

Round three

Assault! No pain, no gain. Wishing to release from previous defeats. The impossible became possible. Great job Flickers. For the first time qualified for the last 8 at an International open tournament.

Last 8

Open Seed 1 (Scheen) Seed 7 (Donval) and 12 (Gorgette) are among our opponents now. It is likely a mission impossible, but Flickers never give up.  During the first minutes, we thought that dreams could come true. Usual quick start for Geoffrey and an incredible Giulio score two times against Donval.  While not much fun for Adrian and Vittorio.   At the end of the day, Giulio could not oppose the return of Axel, but we proudly fight against very good players.

Congratulation for all the Flickers, above all Geoffrey always winner of his matches. We did well and we enjoyed a great weekend. A special thanks to our little Flickers Benjamin supporting us during the team tournament. A good training for the coming event in San Benedetto in November, while Flickers International will show off again early December in Cardiff for the International Open.
